Jamie Foxx in talks to join Will Smith and Jay-Z's 'Annie'
Jamie Foxx may be getting ready to live a hard knock life.
The Oscar winner ("Ray") is in talks to join the "Annie" remake, with "Beasts of the Southern Wild" star Quvenzhane Wallis playing the title character.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Foxx would play a new spin on the Daddy Warbucks character named Benjamin Stacks (get it?), who takes in Little Orphan Annie and teaches her to sing, dance and be adorable.
The film is an update of the 1982 musical film which was adapted from the Broadway hit (itself based on the classic comic strip). Albert Finney played the Warbucks character in the 1982 version.
Will Smith and Jay-Z are producing, along with James Lassiter and Jada Pinkett-Smith.
Will Gluck ("Easy A") is directing and writing the film, which was initially written by script by Emma Thompson and Aline Brosh McKenna.
Foxx recently starred in Quentin Tarantino's "Django Unchained," and will soon be seen opposite Channing Tatum in "White House Down." He's currently shooting "The Amazing Spider-Man 2," along with Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone and Paul Giamatti.
"Annie" will hit theaters late 2014.
