Despite Champ Kind's heated protest "It's anchorMAN, not anchorLADY!," Christina Applegate will reprise her role as feisty anchorlady Veronica Corningstone in the upcoming "Anchorman 2," according to Celebuzz.

We knew that the original's male principals -- Will Ferrell, Steve Carell, David Koechner and Paul Rudd -- were all on board, but Applegate's participation was still a question mark until her reps confirmed the news earlier this week.

"Anchorman 2" reportedly takes place at the dawn of the 24-hour news channel, offering brand new obstacles for Ron Burgundy (Ferrell) and his Channel 4 news team to conquer.

Director Adam McKay ("Talladega Nights," the upcoming "The Campaign") is also returning, and the film will be released sometime in 2013.  

Applegate currently stars on the NBC comedy "Up All Night."
