James Franco replaces Johnny Depp in Sam Raimi's "Oz: The Great and Powerful"

Taking a break is not in James Franco's DNA. The full-time doctorate student at Yale just finished promoting his Oscar nominated role in "127 Hours" and hosting the 83rd Academy Awards.  Oh, and did we mention he's had three art installations and opened a new bar in the past four months as well?  Needless to say, there won't be any vacation for Mr. Franco in the future.  The 32-year-old artist has closed a deal to star in Sam Raimi's next feature, "Oz: The Great and Powerful" after both Robert Downey, Jr. and Johnny Depp passed.

This prequel to "The Wizard of Oz" will find Franco as a young magician who is swept up into Oz only to battle two powerful witches who run the land.  Production is expected to begin this summer for a 2013 release.
