50 Cent and DJ Drama recording 'Gangsta Grillz' mixtape
Don't say nothing ever comes of connections at South By Southwest. DJ Drama and 50 Cent linked up at the music conference last month and now are readying a Fif-headed "Gangsta Grillz" mixtape, the next in Drama's series that has included contributions from other rappers like T.I., Jean Grae and Young Jeezy. It will be titled "The Lost Tape," and it will be out late April or some time in May.
"We ran into each other at my party out there," Drama told The BoomBox. "I think I said a joke to him real quick about [doing a Gangsta Grillz tape], like, 'You playing...,' because a while ago we were supposed to be doing a G-Unit tape that never happened and we've been discussing some things. I was with his man Rene from G-Unit, went backstage after the show and mentioned it to him. But after that we never really spoke."
50 Tweeted his excitement for the project that next day.
"So I was like, 'Cool. It's real.' It's good, because him doing that created a lot of anticipation and excitement and I'm looking forward to it."
50 Cent is also threatening to release his supposed fifth album sometime this summer.
