Warner Bros. rebooting 'Looney Tunes' for the big screen

Bugs, Daffy, Porky and the rest of the "Looney Tunes" gang are heading back to the big screen.

Warner Bros. is planning to reinvigorate the animated characters for a theatrical reboot, hiring former "Saturday Night Live" writer-performer Jenny Slate to create a script that will combine live-action characters with CGI renderings of the 'toons, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

David Katzenberg and Seth Grahame-Smith ("Dark Shadows") will produce along with David Heyman ("Harry Potter") and Jeffrey Clifford.

The last time WB brought the beloved characters to the big screen was 2003's "Looney Tunes: Back in Action" (pictured), a live action/CGI hybrid starring Brendan Fraser and Jenna Elfman.

While that film bombed at the box office (earning just $20 million in the U.S.), the 1996 effort "Space Jam" -- co-starring Michael Jordan -- fared better, scoring $90 million domestically.
