Ben Affleck and Matt Damon to produce 'Race to the South Pole' with Casey Affleck starring
Oscar-winning buddies Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are planning to work together again, producing
the upcoming "Race to the South Pole" together.
Casey Affleck, often the third musketeer of their happy band, will star, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The historical drama was picked up by Warner Bros. from an idea pitched by Peter Glanz. It tells the true story of two rival explorers fighting through treacherous conditions to reach the never-before-seen South Pole in the early part of the 20th century.
Casey Affleck will play the British Robert Falcon Scott, while an actor has yet to be cast for Norway's Roald Amundsen. They shared very different fates.
Glanz just wrapped production on his directorial debut, "The Longest Week," starring Jason Bateman and Olivia Wilde.
Damon will next be seen in "A Promised Land," which he co-wrote and co-produced with "Good Will Hunting's" Gus Van Sant directing, and "Elysium." Meanwhile Ben Affleck's latest directorial effort, "Argo," hits theaters this fall.
Affleck and Damon are also teaming up for a film based on Boston mobster Whitey Bulger, with Affleck planning to direct and Damon starring.
