Resurrection Rumor of The Week: Netflix or DirecTV may bring back 'The Killing'
In this week's installment of "Cancelled Shows The Studio Wants To Generate Revival Buzz Around," TVLine is reporting that "The Killing" may theoretically be back for a third season.
In this case, Fox TV Studios is using TVLine in the hopes of building a two-way bidding way between DirecTV and Netflix, which are both "in early talks" to bring "The Killing" back.
Note that in industry parlance, "early talks" means that somebody picked up a phone and "The Killing" was mentioned.
This has now become a standard rite of passage for seemingly every cancelled show, with TVLine's corporate sibling Deadline.com reporting "early talks" to bring "Pan Am" to Amazon.com and both "The River" and "Terra Nova" to Netflix. None of those resurrections came to pass, but because "Arrested Development" will be back on Netflix next year, anything seems hypothetically possible.
AMC cancelled "The Killing" last month after two seasons.
