Gorillaz' Damon Albarn combines with Flea, Tony Allen for 'MoonJuice'

Gorillaz and Blur frontman Damon Albarn has worked on some fairly unconventional effors this year, including a collaboration with artists from the Democratic Republic of Congo for DRC Music and
debuting his opera "Doctor Dee."

And while his group Gorillaz has always had an open door for guests, the songwriter has set his sights on another crew altogether. Flea and afrobeat drumm Tony Allen have joined forces with Albarn for a collaborative album, the title of which may bother you.

"Rocketjuice and the Moon" was less inspired and rather instituted by someone outside the band. "Someone in Lagos did the sleeve design and that’s the name he gave it, which suits me because trying to find a name for another band is always tricky."

Albarn, Allen and Flea will debut their music together this weekend in Ireland during a collective performance dubbed Jon's Chop Shop. There are no other tour dates for the trio at the moment, and an arrival date for Moonjuise is TBA.
