Five directors in the mix for 'Star Trek 3' directing job
The "Star Trek" 3 director race is heating up.
Following Roberto Orci's exit from the sci-fi threequel, Paramount is eyeing a number of high-profile directors to replace him including Rupert Wyatt ("Rise of the Planet of the Apes"), Morten Tyldum ("The Imitation Game"), Daniel Espinosa ("Safe House"), Justin Lin ("Fast and Furious") and Duncan Jones ("Source Code").
Deadline is reporting that the studio has already met with Wyatt, whose Mark Wahlberg thriller "The Gambler" hits theaters on Christmas.
J.J. Abrams directed the first two installments of the rebooted "Star Trek" series but handed the reins to Orci after jumping ship for "Star Wars Episode 7: The Force Awakens."
