James Van Der Beek will play himself in ABC's 'Bitch' pilot
James Van Der Beek is set to play a heightened version of James Van Der Beek on ABC's comedy pilot "Don't Trust the Bitch in Apr. 23."
According to NY Mag's Vulture, Van Der Beek is the best friend to title "bitch" Chloe (Krysten Ritter) in the comedy from Nahnatchka Khan. The website compares this Alt Van Der Beek to Matt LeBlanc's version of himself in "Episodes" or the Neil Patrick Harris of the "Harold and Kumar" films.
Van Der Beek has hardly been shy about varying degrees of self-parody, as his Funny or Die clips prove. The "Varsity Blues" star has also played against-"Dawson's Creek"-type in projects like "One Tree Hill" and the features "Rules of Attraction" and "Standing Still." He was most recently seen in a recurring role on NBC's "Mercy."
