"Idol Gives Back" already won Wednesday night for FOX in the ratings race and ridded the world of Tim Urban, but who knew it also had charitable goals?
Oh right. Anybody who watched the 144 minute telethon.
FOX says that "Idol Gives Back" has already raised nearly $45 million for various U.S. and international charities including the Children’s Health Fund, Feeding America, Malaria No More, Save the Children’s U.S. Programs and the United Nations Foundation.
That total will only rise, with donations coming in and iTunes donating net proceeds from the week's Top 7 performances.
"Once again, I am over overwhelmed by the generosity of the 'American Idol' viewers, our sponsors and our special benefactors," stays executive producer Simon Fuller. "I am so thankful to all of the celebrity guests and performers who appeared Wednesday night to support 'Idol Gives Back.'"
