Jerry O'Connell joins Kal Penn, Tony Shalhoub CBS comedy pilot
With "Mockingbird Lane" officially deceased, Jerry O'Connell has moved on to a co-starring role on a CBS comedy pilot.
According to Deadline.com, O'Connell will take the fourth lead in CBS' single-camera Rob Greenberg project, which focuses on a newly single 20-something guy (Chris Smith) who moves into a short-term rental complex and meets three more experienced men, played by Tony Shalhoub, Kal Penn and O'Connell.
O'Connell's character is a successful OB/GYN in the midst of his second divorce.
CBS has been taken its time casting the Greenberg comedy, which was ordered in July and added Smith and Penn and then Shalhoub over the summer. The pilot is expected to shoot either later this month or next.
O'Connell's last CBS project was the one-and-done drama "The Defenders."
