10 stories you might have missed: Rumors fly on 'Justice League' line-up
While it's a no brainer that the heroic lineup of Warner Bros.' upcoming "Justice League" will include Superman (presumably Henry Cavill), Batman (possibly Joseph Gordon-Levitt) and Wonder Woman, it's not yet clear who among DC's roster -- which also includes Green Lantern, The Flash, Hawkman, Cyborg, and more -- will also make the cut.
It's been widely reported that Darkseid will act as the film's primary villain, but rumors continue to fly about the good guys. Cosmic Book News is reporting some story and character tidbits as revealed by an unnamed source.
According to their report, Superman will be the same character from the upcoming "Man of Steel," and director Zack Snyder will act as a consultant on "League."
In "Legaue," a new Batman (not Christian Bale) will be a main character who is wary about his ties to the group and finds its other heroes to be too powerful for their own good.
Wonder Woman will also be a part of the team. The in-development "Wonder Woman" solo script (by Michael Goldenberg) will supposedly take place before "Justice League."
The story continues, saying that Green Lantern will essentially be the Ryan Reynolds character from that film, only with a more serious tone. Furthermore, the Flash will be depicted as a "flashy" hero who craves public adoration and media attention, while the Martian Manhunter will be an Earthbound alien who has experience with the powerful Darkseid. Meanwhile, Aquaman will be shown as the King of Atlantis and have a key role, while Alfred Pennyworth and Lois Lane (Amy Adams?) will have small parts. Lastly, the film's military characters may tie into "Man of Steel" or even include "Green Lantern's" Amanda Waller (played by Angela Bassett).
None of this is official, but it all makes sense, especially since DC and WB seem to be closely following Marvel's movie playbook which led to the gargantuan box office of last year's "The Avengers."
Stay tuned.

January 5, 2013 at 1:03PM EST Reply to CommentThey NEED Bale as Batman! Like Robert Downey Jr. giving credibility to Iron Man which made people vested in not only him but essentially gave way to the needed foundation of the Avengers- Bale does the same thing for Batman. The only way JL works is if Bale is Batman. People already love Bale's version why not use that love as the springboard for JL???
mmcb105 The only problem is that Bale would never do it. The studio would cast him in a heartbeat, likely at whatever salary he wants, they arent the ones keeping this from becoming a reality. Their willingness to cast JGL is simply an idea they are floating because they are desperate to connect Nolan's Batman series to the new justice league universe for exactly the reason you stated for Downey and the avengers.
January 6, 2013 at 12:58AM ESTShawn I agree except for when you say Bale wouldn't do it. The key is getting Nolan to be involved somehow (best would be if he directed). Bale has said that he would gladly put on the suit again if Nolan was behind it. I know Nolan has said he's not going to be involved in the JL but he's the key behind the only way the JL will ever be as big as the Avengers. Get Nolan and we get Bale as Batman and then off we go to major success for everyone!!
January 6, 2013 at 1:37PM ESTSpencer But the thing is how can you have Batman if he isn't Bruce Wayne if they are following Nolan's universe?

January 9, 2013 at 6:15PM EST Reply to CommentSadly DC was beaten to the punch, and badly, by the Avengers. No matter what at this point its going to seem like a knockoff, especially if they do a similar run of solo movies. JLA is not being made if Avengers wasn't so big.
I'd rather DC focus on putting out top notch solo films such as the recent Nolan trilogy and (hopefully) Man of Steel. DC shouldn't feel pressured to copy marvel's blueprint.
