FX's 'Sons of Anarchy' returns big, 'Terriers' premieres small
FX got mixed results for the premieres of two dramas this week.
On Tuesday night, "Sons of Anarchy" got off to a terrific start, drawing 4.13 million viewers. The third season premiere ranked behind only the Season Two premiere and finale on the list of the show's most watched episodes. Although the S.3 premiere was down from the S.2 launch, it was up from the show's S.2 averages in total viewers and in the 18-49 demo.
FX is excited about those numbers.
Despite strong reviews, though, Wednesday's series premiere of "Terriers" couldn't produce the same enthusiasm. The private eye dramedy drew only 1.6 million viewers for its launch, only 659,000 in the 18-49 demo.
As "Terriers" showrunner Shawn Ryan tweeted, "#Terriers premiere ratings weren't what we wanted, but good reviews and good Internet reaction gives hope for future. Tell friends to watch."
