Carey Mulligan joins thriller 'Nancy and Danny'
Carey Mulligan will be looking for a big payday in the upcoming thriller "Nancy and Danny."
The actress has signed on to play the lead in the film being produced by Indian Paintbrush. "Nancy" centers on a small town gold digger named Nancy (Mulligan), who manipulates a lovestruck man into an illegal money-making scam that, naturally, doesn't turn out the way she planned.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, who broke the casting news, the film will be similar in tone to Gus Van Sant's caustic 1995 satire "To Die For," which starred Nicole Kidman as a fame-hungry TV weather girl.
"Man on a Wire" director James Marsh is making the move to fiction filmmaking with "Nancy."
Mulligan had a busy 2011, appearing in both "Shame" and "Drive," and won't be seen onscreen until 2013, when she co-stars in Baz Luhrmann's delayed 3D adaptation of "The Great Gatsby," and in the Coen Brothers' latest, "Inside Llewyn Davis."
