"Avatar's" Zoe Saldana is getting ready to sing on the big screen.

The actress is set to star in the upcoming biopic of legendary jazz crooner Nina Simone called, naturally, "Nina."

RnB star Mary J. Blige (recently seen in "Rock of Ages") was initially set for the role, but fell through after budget concerns delayed the film, according to The Hollywood Reporter. 

As of now, it's unknown if Saldana will sing Simone's tunes, or if she will be dubbed by another singer (or Simone's original recordings). Simone died in 2003 in France.

David Oyelowo (the upcoming "Jack Reacher") will star as Simone's manager, Clifton Henderson. "Nina" is being written and directed by Cynthia Mort (who wrote "The Brave One").

Saldana was recently seen in "Colombiana," and will next appear alongside Bradley Cooper in "The Words" and, later, "Star Trek 2."
