Chris Weitz's 'New Moon' follow up 'A Better Life' to be released in June
When Chris Weitz was doing press for The Twilight Saga: New Moon he was very excited to get on with his next project, a film about a Mexican American immigrant working in Los Angeles written by Eric Easen and originally called "The Gardener." The drama centers around an illegal immigrant gardener trying to grow a business and provide a future for his only son. Weitz intended to hire a hispanic crew and shoot the film as a mixed spanish and english film. A return to his roots somewhat as the director is of Mexican descent himself.
The 'Twilight' production company, Summit Entertainment, agreed to produce the project and announced that they will give the film a limited run in theaters on June 24th. In an interview given to HitFix, he originally intended to have it ready for this year's Sundance Film Festival, but as is commonin the film industry, not everything goes according to plan.
Watch the 2009 interview embedded below where he talks about the film (at about 3:00)
