Tom Hardy putting on 30 pounds to play Bane in 'Dark Knight Rises'
Tom Hardy recently sat down on British talk show "Chatty Man" and talked about his work for Christopher Nolan and the preparation for his upcoming role as bad guy 'Bane' in the latest and last Nolan Batman film "Dark Knight Rises." Bane, the supervillain character, is traditionally portrayed as being the size of a competitive bodybuilder, and Hardy said he will be putting on close to 30 pounds to play the character.
The actor is no stranger to this kind of body modification. He previously put on close to the same amount of weight to play the convict Bronson in the film of the same name. Even though in the interview Hardy tells the host that the weight gain is mostly "fat and trickery," folks who saw "Bronson" will know that there was very little room for "trickery" in the revealing role. (He's pretty much naked through most of the film.)
