'Prometheus' making mysterious Comic-Con plans

Ridley Scott's "Alien" prequel "Prometheus" has been in theaters for almost a month and, although it wasn't the box office smash that Fox was hoping for, the ambitious sci-fier continues to inspire an impassioned debate between supporters and detractors. Likewise, the film's viral campaign is still in full swing.

It's unusual for a film that's already been released to have a significant presence at the massive annual San Diego Comic-Con. Perhaps trying to build interest in the eventual DVD/Blu-Ray release (or maybe even the inevitable sequel), Fox has unveiled Project Prometheus, a mysterious web site that promises that the film's fictional Weyland Industries will be "recruiting" at the Con, beginning July 11.

The site offers a faux recruitment video that features a "nanotechnologist" named Jamie Rossi talking up the benefits of working for Weyland. Naturally, the video is sporadically interrupted by flashes of some of the film's spooky, sticky alien images. Just what the SDCC "recruitment" will involve is still a mystery, but it will likely be a lot of fun for the film's fans.

A link at the conclusion of the video offers only the familiar standby, "details coming soon.”

Potential future Weyland employees may have to wait until the start of SDCC to (finally) get some answers.
