Kal Penn ditches Obama for 'How I Met Your Mother'
Kal Penn is temporarily leaving a gig with the White House to wreak havoc on "How I Met Your Mother."
According to TVLine.com, Penn will take "a major recurring role" as a potential love interest for Cobie Smulders' Robin.
Penn left FOX's "House" to take a gig as associate director in the office of public liaison at the White House, a job important enough that he's been willing to leave it behind for projects like the upcoming "A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas," featuring "HIMYM" star Neil Patrick Harris and former "HIMYM" guest star John Cho.
