'New Moon' heartthrob Taylor Lautner becomes Max Steel
Taylor Lautner's post-"Twilight" career is about to take off. The 17-year-old already has a small cameo in the upcoming romantic comedy "Valentine's Day," but his first solo effort is now set. According to The Los Angeles Times, Launter will star as "Max Steel" in a new superhero movie for Paramount Pictures.
Based on a Mattel toy line and animated series that began in 2001, "Max Steel" is really Josh McGrath, a 19-year-old extreme sports athlete who is mistakenly exposed to nanotechnological machine which becomes part of him and give him super strength, near in-vulnerability and the ability to modify his appearance. With "hot" screenwriters J.P. Lavin and Chad Damiani on board some of those details could change when finally "Steel" hits the big screen.
"Steel" might be quite awhile from production, which means Lautner should be able to book another film beforehand. What that will be is anyone's guess. In the meantime, Lautner fans can look forward to seeing him reprise his role as Jacob Black in "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" this June.
