ABC would 'love' to do a series with Lucasfilm
File this under the heading of "Duh," but ABC President Paul Lee says the network would "love" to do a series of some sort with Lucasfilm after the company is acquired by Disney.
"We’d love to do something with Lucasfilm, we’re not sure what yet," Lee told EW.com. "We haven’t even sat down with them. We’re going to look at [the live-action series], we’re going to look at all of them, and see what’s right. We weren’t able to discuss this with them until [the acquisition] closed and it just closed. It’s definitely going to be part of the conversation."
Like we said... Duh. Of course ABC would like a live-action series from Lucasfilm. Currently, ABC is in the process of moving in the direction of a live-action series from Marvel, several years after the acquisition took place.
As EW observes, Lucasfilm has been discussing the possibility of a live-action series set in the "Star Wars" universe for the better part of a decade, reaching the script stage with Rick McCallum producing and Ron Moore among the writers, but for a variety of reasons, largely the cost, nothing ever came together.
Will anything come together now? Who knows?
