U2 plots 'Achtung Baby' reissue
Irish rockers U2 are developing plans for reissues on perhaps two of their essential '90s albums.Rolling Stone reports that a 20th Anniversary edition of "Achtung Baby" is on the way, to contain outtakes and behind-the-scenes video footage from that Lanois-Eno-Flood-produced classic effort. There may be an accompanying iPad app created as well.
"I’m blown away listening to some of the rough mixes and the outtakes,” The Edge told the magazine. “There’s some very interesting alternative versions that we discovered of songs that wouldn’t have seen the light of day, alternative lyrics, different arrangement styles — it’s like 'Achtung Baby' out of focus.”
The 1991 album was part of the sea change for the band, as was the Zoo TV and 1993 album "Zooropa." U2 is also in discussions for a separate re-release of that set as well.
