MGM is rebooting 'WarGames' for the 21st Century
Do you want to play a game?
MGM sure does, as the studio is booting up a remake of the 1983 Matthew Broderick sci-fi film "War Games," according to Variety.
Signing on to direct is "Horrible Bosses" helmer Seth Gordon, who has had experience with big screen games before, making his directorial debut with the hilarious and insightful documentary "King of Kong," which followed two rival video game champions in a competition to see who is the ultimate "Donkey Kong" warrior.
The original "War Games" (pictured) centers on two geeky teens (Broderick and "The Breakfast Club's" Ally Sheedy) who hack into a top secret military computer program. Thinking they're simply playing a game, they discover they're actually on the verge of triggering a full-scale nuclear war with Russia. John Badham ("Saturday Night Fever") directed it.
Gordon's "Horrible Bosses," starring Jason Bateman, Charlie Day, Jamie Foxx, Kevin Spacey and Jennifer Aniston, opens July 8.
