Asa Butterfield eyed for 'Spider-Man' reboot
Is Asa Butterfield set to become the third big-screen iteration of Marvel's most famous superhero?
The "Ender's Game" star is the reported frontrunner to play a high-school-aged Peter Parker in Marvel/Sony's upcoming "Spider-Man" reboot. The new version of the character is expected to make his first appearance in Marvel's "Captain America: Civil War" before spinning off (no pun intended) into a standalone series of films.
The webslinger was originally played by Tobey Maguire in Sam Raimi's 2002-2007 "Spider-Man" trilogy. Andrew Garfield took over the role in Marc Webb's "The Amazing Spider-Man" and its 2014 sequel.
