'Idol' Rumor of the Week: Could we get an all-returning contestant judging panel?
Has FOX decided that the only way for "American Idol" to have a future is to revisit its past? That was this week's hot rumor.
Per Vulture, FOX and the "Idol" producers are mulling an idea to jettison the full "Idol" judging panel -- this part is widely expected -- and replace them with a trio of veteran "American Idol" favorite contestants.
The report, which is careful to emphasize that FOX and Fremantle Media and 19 Entertainment aren't confirming anything, says that Jennifer Hudson and Kelly Clarkson have already been approached and that Adam Lambert and Clay Aiken are also being considered.
This possibly seems as enticing and plausible as any yet floated for the inevitable overhaul of "Idol," which was still a strong performer for FOX, but also hit series lows with every passing week, including the least-watched finale in the show's history.
