Has the main villain for 'Guardians of the Galaxy' been revealed?
Has it been revealed who the Marvel Comics super team "Guardians of the Galaxy" will be fighting in the forthcoming summer 2014 epic?
Hint: It ain't Thanos (pictured).
For this of you who don't wish to know anymore than that, we humbly offer this SPOILER WARNING.
Despite earlier indications that the intergalactic menace known as Thanos (glimpsed at the end of "The Avengers") would go up against The Guardians, reports now surmise that the main baddie will actually be Ronan the Accuser, a member of the alien race known as the Kree, according to JoBlo.
"Pushing Daisies" star Lee Pace recently signed on to play an undisclosed villain role, which could be Ronan. Originally a pure villain, Ronan gradually became more honorable and less evil over time.
If this rumor becomes fact, Thanos will likely still be a major villain in "The Avengers 2," facing Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, Captain America and the rest of Earth's Mightiest Heroes.
Likewise, early fan speculation hints at the possibility of the 2015 film, currently being written by director Joss Whedon, will feature the Kree-Skrull war, a Marvel Comics event in which Ronan played a key role.
"Guardians" is ramping up production and will also star Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Zoe Saldana, and Michael Rooker. James Gunn ("Slither") is directing.
"Guardians" opens August 1, 2014.
