Warner Bros. drops out of re-making 'He-Man'
Has the evil Skeletor won his long battle against the heroic He-Man? If it means keeping the muscle bound hero off the big screen, that just might be the case.
Variety reports Warner Bros. and producer Joel Silver have dropped out of bringing "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe" back to the big screen. According to the trade, Mattel, who controls the right to the franchise, didn't agree on the creative direction of the project with the movie studio and both parties agreed to let Warner's option on the property expire this month. Now, Mattel will take "He-Man" to another studio, but expect to keep director John Stevenson ("Kung Fu Panda"), in the fold.
So Skeletor wins this round, but will He-Man win the war?
