'Lego Movie' directors Phil Lord & Chris Miller may be in talks to direct 'Ghostbusters 3''
When we last checked in on the continuing saga of "Ghostbusters 3," Sony was still planning to go ahead with the long-delayed project sometime in 2015 with a new director, after Ivan Reitman passed on helming duties.
Now, word has arrived that "The Lego Movie" and "21 Jump Street" directors Phil Lord & Chris Miller are reportedly in talks to direct the threequel, according to Deadline's Nikki Finke.
An original script by Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky ("The Office," "Bad Teacher") was allegedly scrapped, and Etan Cohen ("Men in Black 3") is now working on scripting a complete franchise reboot which will introduce a new team of paranormal investigators with the "original cast" appearing in small roles.
Just who is included in the "original cast" is very vague at this point. Original star Dan Aykroyd is still onboard, while Bill Murray has essentially said he won't appear, and there's been no word on Ernie Hudson. Co-star Harold Ramis passed away last month.
Aykroyd is also producing the film, along with Reitman.
After the box office success of "Lego," Lord and Miller also have "22 Jump Street" in theaters in just a few weeks.
