Eddie Izzard, Frances Conroy join 'United States of Tara'
Eddie Izzard and France Conroy are both returning to cable television with roles in the third season of Showtime's "The United States of Tara."
Showtime has announced that Izzard will appear in at least eight episodes playing a psychology professor who initially proves skeptical of Tara's (Toni Collette) DID, but then becomes fascinated by her condition.
Meanwhile, Conroy will play the mother of John Corbett's Max. She'll be appearing in one episode.
The third season of "Tara" will begin production in mid-September with an eye on a 2011 premiere.
Izzard's most recent series credit was FX's "The Riches." The acclaimed comic has been seen on the big screen in films including "Valkyrie" and "Across the Universe," while he earned a Tony nomination for his work on "A Day in the Life of Joe Egg" on Broadway.
Conroy picked up three Emmy nominations for her run on HBO's "Six Feet Under." Her most recent TV roles were on ABC's "Happy Town" and CBS' "How I Met Your Mother."
