Nickelodeon wants a 'Monsters vs. Aliens' pilot

Another week, another big screen animated smash targeted for the small screen.

DreamWorks Animation CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg revealed this week that Nickelodeon has ordered a TV pilot based on the spring smash "Monsters vs. Aliens," according to The Hollywood Reporter. To date, "Monsters vs. Aliens" has taken in over $190 million at the domestic box office.

This announcement came one week after DWA and Nick reached a deal to develop "Kung Fu Panda: The Series" and both pacts follow in the footsteps of the successful "The Penguins of Madagascar."

Both "Kung Fu Panda" and "Shrek" have also spawned TV holiday specials.
