The CW lines up reality for the summer
After basically sitting out last summer, The CW has set lined up a busy slate for 2012, ordering a trio of new reality offerings.
"The Star Next Door," "Breaking Pointe" and "The Catalina" join "Oh Sit!" on what would be The CW's most aggressive summer ever.
From Queen Latifah and Dave Broome ("The Biggest Loser"), "The Star Next Door" travels the country looking for "undiscovered artists on the verge of stardom." Gloria Estefan and John Rich have already been attached as mentors.
"Breaking Pointe" focuses on Ballet West, dance company out of Salt Lake City. The BBC Worldwide Productions series looks at the dog-eat-dog world of ballet.
And, finally, "The Catalina" focuses on the "young, wild staff" of Miami's The Catalina hotel.
"One of my first goals here at The CW was to increase the number of hours of original programming, both throughout the season and during the summer," states CW President Mark Pedowitz. "With these four new reality series, we’re launching our biggest summer schedule yet which will boost our circulation during the summer months and provide us with a promotional platform for our fall launch."
