Melissa McCarthy may join Bill Murray in 'St. Vincent De Van Nuys'
After scoring at the box office with "Bridesmaids" and "Identity Thief," Melissa McCarthy may soon go head-to-head with Bill Murray in the much buzzed-about "St. Vincent De Van Nuys."
In the comedic drama, Murray will play the title character, a curmudgeonly old man who forms a comic bond with the 12-year-old son of his new neighbor, a single mother who would be played by McCarthy. The role has been reportedly coveted by some of Hollywood's top comedic actresses, according to Deadline.
Ted Melfi is writing and directing for The Weinstein Company and Chernin Entertainment. Production is scheduled to begin in July.
McCarthy reunited with "Bridesmaids" director Paul Feig for the upcoming comedy "The Heat," co-starring Sandra Bullock.
