J.J. Abrams still hasn't committed to direct 'Star Trek 2'

The long awaited "Star Trek 2" is still on the way, but whether J.J. Abrams will direct is still up in the air. Viacom, the parent company of Paramount Pictures, had a conference call with investors on Thursday where the subject of the potential blockbuster came up.

Viacom COO Tom Dooley told the company's investors that Robert Orci, Alex Kurtzman and Damon Lindelof are still working on the sequel's script and are expected to deliver it by Christmas.  Abrams is busy shooting his passion project "Super 8," but still hasn't committed to do anything but produce the second "Trek" film and, according to The Hollywood Reporter, the studio desperately want him back.  And with a June 29, 2012 release date on the books a decision will like be needed soon.

Dooley also revealed that a screenplay is in the works for a "G.I. Joe" sequel and that Jack Bender ("Lost," "The Sopranos") is on board to direct the Jack Ryan reboot which would have Chris Pine playing the title role.  More intriguing was the news a new script for a live action "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" flick is close to being ready and Ben Stiller's "Zoolander" sequel may hit theaters sooner than expected.

He's so handsome! But my favorite on days is James Scott! Did you hear about this really exciting contest to meet James Scott and Joseph Mascolo on the Days set and to appear with them in Soap Opera Digest? Check it out at http://www.classwish.org/days/fame
