Is Vin Diesel slowing down 'Fast and Furious 7'?
"Fast and Furious 7" had to shut down production last year after the tragic death of Paul Walker, and now star Vin Diesel is reportedly slowing down production on the franchise film.
Universal, director James Wan and the crew have already faced difficulties in trying to complete the delayed film in the wake of Walker's passing. Key scenes involving Walker's character were re-written and several scenes have been shot using computer technology to graft Walker's face onto stand-ins (including his brothers). Now rumors are circulating that Diesel is being difficult on set and is apparently losing faith in the film.
According to The Hollywood Reporter's sources, Diesel "spent a whole day in his trailer one day. The next day, they waited four hours for him. He called a meeting [on May 28] of studio execs to his trailer for two-and-a-half hours to say, 'What the f— am I doing here?' "
Some scenes have been shot using doubles for Diesel, but the crew's morale is reportedly suffering, and the film may be in danger of falling behind schedule.
The THR article reports Universal chairman Donna Langley responded to the negative buzz with, "This production is working through some challenges that are historically unprecedented. The crew and cast, led by Vin, have been nothing but terrific under these circumstances."
"Fast and Furious 7" is scheduled to open April 10, 2015.
