Aaron Sorkin reshot the start of 'Newsroom' Season 2
There were many interesting tidbits in The Hollywood Reporter's cover story this week on Aaron Sorkin, but perhaps no tidbit was more interesting than this:
Apparently Sorkin shot two episodes for the second season of "The Newsroom" and then decided he needed a mulligan and, because he's Aaron Sorkin, HBO let him take one.
"I doubt HBO's going to be happy with my telling you this, but I got off to a false start with season two," Sorkin told the trade.
Apparently production briefly shut down, allowing Sorkin to write a new third episode and he then reshot large chunks of the first and second episodes. The trade says that while HBO allowed the delays and reshoots, the cost was "several million dollars," which contributed to reducing the season's episode order from 10 to 9.
The slightly truncated, slightly reconceived second season of "The Newsroom" premieres on July 14.
