BBC America's original drama 'Copper' secures its leads
A slew of familiar faces, but maybe not familiar names, have signed on for the lead roles in "Copper," the period drama that will mark BBC America's first foray into original drama programming.
Tom Weston-Jones ("MI-5") has landed the pilot's lead role, playing Kevin Corcoran, an Irish-American cop patrolling the Five Points neighborhood in 1860s New York City.
Created by Tom Fontana ("Oz") and Will Rokos ("Monster's Ball"), "Copper" will also star Kyle Schmid ("Blood Ties"), Anastasia Griffith ("Once Upon a Time") and "Run Lola Run" and "The Bourne Identity" star Franka Potente.
"We’re thrilled to have Tom Weston-Jones, Kyle Schmid, and Anastasia Griffith – all stars in the making – join the cast of 'Copper,'" stated Christina Wayne, President, Cineflix Studios. "Franka Potente brings her undeniable talent and feature experience to the mix."
BBC America will premiere "Copper" in the fall of 2012.
