Starz will replace Andy Whitfield in 'Spartacus'
Starz has moved forward with plans to recast the lead in "Spartacus."
The casting notice, first revealed by Michael Ausiello, was no surprise after the previous announcement that original star Andy Whitfield was returning for another round of treatment for Non-Hodgkin lymphoma, forcing him to drop out of the series permanently.
Production is looking for an actor in his mid-to-late 30s with an authentic British accent and a willingness to sign a three-year contract. Presumably the new Spartacus also has to look good with his shirt off.
We, like everybody else, send our best wishes to Whitfield in his cancer fight.
