Could Russell Crowe be in the running to play RoboCop?
Hot on the heels of the news that he'll likely play Noah for "Black Swan" director Darren Aronofsky, Aussie Oscar winner Russell Crowe is now rumored to be in the running to play another legendary historical figure: RoboCop.
While it's been long rumored that Michael Fassbender ("Shame," "X-Men: First Class") would fill the boots first worn by Peter Weller in Paul Verhoeven's gleefully violent 1987 black comedy, Variety's Jeff Sneider recently tweeted that Crowe "might" be taking the role instead.
Crowe later tweeted a denial, but let the arguments begin. Would Crowe make a good Officer Alex J. Murphy, or is he too much of a beefy tough guy? The remake is being directed by "Elite Squad" helmer Jose Padilha.
Crowe will soon be seen as Superman's Kryptonian dad, Jor-El, in Zack Snyder's "Man of Steel."
