Even though she's had little box office success outside of the "Twilight" franchise so far in her career, Universal Pictures wants Kristen Stewart and they want her bad.
The studio's tentpole "Snow White and the Huntsman" is a much different take on the classic "Snow White" tale. While Charlize Theron is rumored to be on board for the Evil Queen and Viggo Mortenson is in talks to play the Huntsman, Ms. White is still up in the air. A number of actresses including Riley Keough ("The Runaways"), Felicity Jones (in Sundance fav "Like Crazy"), Swedish up and comer Alicia Vikander and Emily Browning ("Sucker Punch") have auditioned for the role, they are still hoping Stewart will respond to their overtures. According to The Hollywood Reporter
, the "Snow White" team has been reaching out to Stewart, who is shooting "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn" in Louisiana, as last as last week.
Stewart has used her off "Twilight" time to shoot indie fare such as "The Runaways" and "Welcome to the Rileys," but it may be time for her to settle into another studio role to cement her long term playability. Whether that will be "Snow White" remains to be seen.
