Is Common out of the 'A-Team' movie?
Through all its directors, stars and stops, one constant over the past few years has been the rumor that hip-hop artist Common would play B.A. Baracus, the role originated by Mr. T, in the big screen incarnation of "The A-Team." Now, that may be in doubt.
According to Variety, Common has agreed to star opposite Queen Latifah in the new Fox Searchlight romantic comedy "Just Wright." With Sanaa Hamri on board to direct, the picture finds Latifah playing a sports trainer who finds herself falling in love with a pro basketball player (Common) who is rehabilitating from a career-threatening injury. It's the biggest role so far for the rapper who has also appeared in "American Gangster" and "Terminator: Salvation."
"Wright" is expected to begin shooting in mid-July in New York City. It would be extremely tight for Common to also fit in "The A-Team" which is also supposed to begin shooting this summer. However, considering Common's "Smokin Aces" director Joe Carnahan is also behind the new "A-Team" and Searchlight's parent studio 20th Century Fox is also producing the actioner, anything is possible.
