Is 'Avengers 2' coming May 1, 2015?
When Disney revealed the news that "Avengers" writer-director Joss Whedon was indeed returning for the planned sequel, impatient fans immediately asked a follow-up question: When is it coming out?
While we don't know for sure, it seems that Disney is staking out a release date just three years from now.
An unnamed inside source told MTV, "It looks like the release date might be May 1, 2015, but that can change depending on people's schedules. The beauty of 'The Avengers' is that you've got so many people in this that even during the shoot if someone has to do another film they can."
Marvel has already set an ambitious release schedule through 2014, including "Avengers"-related films "Iron Man 3" (Robert Downey Jr.), "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" (Chris Evans) and "Thor: The Dark World" (Chris Hemsworth). We can also assume that other team members -- including Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury, Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow, Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye and possibly even Mark Ruffalo's Hulk -- will pop up here and there in those films.
The source also revealed that the sequel's development is further along that we'd anticipated, saying, "Marvel has a very set agenda of what they want to do, they are already kind of ahead of the game [on the sequel] because they've got the guy that did it before doing it again and something tells me Joss already has the template."
However, nothing is official, so don't get in line for tickets yet.
