"Prison Break" star Dominic Purcell may be in contention to take over the lead role in the upcoming second season of Starz' "Spartacus."
According to Deadline.com,
Starz executives have received a screen test from the burly "John Doe" star, a fact that doesn't mean that Purcell is anything other than in-the-mix for the gig replacing Andy Whitfield.
The website mentions Liam McIntyre as another thespian still in the running for the gladiatorial hijinks.
Does anybody else feel like Starz is just throwing darts against a wall of accented hunks?
Don't believe us? The Deadline story conveniently failed to mention that only three months ago, Michael Ausiello (now a Deadline sibling reporter) had the "exclusive" that a different "Prison Break" star, Wentworth Miller, was in the running for "Spartacus."
Wait around another week and T-Bag may be auditioning for Starz.
