Idris Elba in talks to play villain in ‘Star Trek 3’
Idris Elba is getting some more sci-fi on his resume — a highly-anticipated sci-fi movie at that. The “Pacific Rim” and “Prometheus” actor is in early talks to appear in “Star Trek 3.”
No surprise, the makers of “Star Trek 3” are keeping mum on details of Elba’s role. J.J. Abrams is producing, not directing, this one, but the master of movie secrecy is still plenty involved enough keep plot and character details a mystery.
At the helm of this latest installment is Justin Lin, who directed four “Fast & Furious” movies. Returning cast members include Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Simon Pegg, Karl Urban, Zoe Saldana and Anton Yeltsin.
So does this mean BBC is the go-to source for “Star Trek” reboot villains? First Benedict Cumberbatch, and now the “Luther” star. Let’s make three a trend and get David Tennant to be the baddie in “Star Trek 4.” — Emily Rome
