It was a pretty good week for NBC's "Community."
Not only did the third-year comedy return with strong numbers on Thursday night, but off-network rights to existing "Community" episodes were acquired by Comedy Central.
Beginning in the fall of 2013, Comedy Central will be able to begin airing episodes from the first three "Community" seasons.
"Within the chaos of the current media landscape we are fortunate that we live in a timeline where 'Community' comes to Comedy Central," stated Dave Bernath, Executive Vice President, Program Strategy & Multiplatform Programming for Comedy Central. "Our staff is celebrating with a game of paintball in the offices today."
The off-network deal will have no particular impact on "Community" and its hopes for a fourth season on NBC, but the comedy's 2.2 rating among adults 18-49 on Thursday is sure to help.
