Will Hillary Rodham Clinton be British?
Oscar nominee Carey Mulligan ("An Education") has been revealed as the front-runner to play the first lady, New York senator and secretary of state in the upcoming biopic "Rodham."
Other big name stars who were reportedly in the running include Scarlett Johansson, Jessica Chastain and Emma Stone, but Mulligan is the producers' primary pick to play Clinton in the film which will center on her early years as a lawyer and her involvement in Nixon's impeachment, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Mulligan will reportedly soon meet with director James Ponsoldt ("The Spectacular Now") to discuss the role. There have been no names mentioned to fill the shoes of future president Bill Clinton.
The actress recently starred opposite Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire in "The Great Gatsby," and will soon be seen in the Coen Brothers' ensemble drama "Inside Llewyn Davis."
