Will Tom Hardy team with 'Audtion' director Takashi Miike for 'The Outsider'?
Like Wolverine, Tom Hardy is also heading to Japan.
The "Dark Knight Rises" star has signed on as the lead in Silver Pictures’ "The Outsider," with prolific Japanese helmer Takashi Miike in talks to direct.
"The Outsider" takes place in post-World War II Japan, where a U.S. vet (Hardy) joins the infamous Japanese yakuza, according to Deadline.
The film is based on an original idea by John Linson, with a script by Andrew Baldwin. Linson will produce alongside Art Linson, while Joel Silver, Andrew Rona and Steve Richards will also produce for Silver Pictures.
Hardy is also in the running for a very different film: The long-awaited biopic of pop star Elton John. He'll next be seen in the long-awaited "Mad Max" sequel "Fury Road" with Charlize Theron.
Since breaking out in the 1990s, cult auteur Miike has directed dozens of films, including international hits "Audition, " "Ichi the Killer," "One Missed Call," "Sukiyaki Western Django," "13 Assassins" and the English-language Showtime film "Imprint," made as part of the Masters of Horror cycle.
