Laurence Fishburne lands 'Roots' reboot role
Busy "Hannibal" and "Black-ish" co-star Laurence Fishburne will play Alex Haley in A&E Networks' upcoming event series "Roots."
Per the A&E Release, the new "Roots" will be "an original, contemporary production, incorporating material from Haley's novel, as well as carefully researched new scholarship of the time."
An Emmy and Tony winner, Fishburne is currently an executive producer and supporting performer on ABC's 'Black-ish" and his third season on "Hannibal" is currently airing on NBC. Like the rest of the "Hannibal" cast," Fishburne is without a Season 4 contract, but could still return another network picks up the Gaumont production which was recently canceled by its American network.
