'Legion of Superheroes' may be next interstellar group flying to the big screen
Hey, it worked for Marvel...
When Warner Bros. recently announced that it's planning nine hundred new superhero films over the next few years, they declined to specifically name which heroes would be getting the big screen treatment (although "Wonder Woman" and "Aquaman" are among the safer bets).
Dwayne Johnson's "Shazam" has since been revealed to be among the mystery movies, but now rumors are pointing to another possibility: "The Legion of Superheroes," according to Latino Review.
Like Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy," "Legion" centers on a diverse group of space-trekking superheroes, although these guys originated in the 30th century.
Taking the action into outer space and incorporating more overt sci-fi elements, "Guardians" helped Marvel Studios expand their growing superhero mythos, and Warner/DC is likely hoping the formula will work a second time. "Guardians" is the highest-grossing film of 2014 so far.
The "Legion" team has been re-tooled several times through the years, with regular members including Cosmic Boy, Saturn Girl and Lightning Lad, with Superboy often appearing in the mix.
Of course, this is all just a rumor for now, so don't count on seeing "Legion" on the big screen anytime soon.
