'Green Lantern' gets extra $9 million to finish effects

Warner Bros. has learned a lot about making "Green Lantern" movies over the past year and their biggest lesson is completing the special effects take a lot longer than they anticipated.  In fact, it's one of the reasons strong materials for the film including posters and trailers didn't arrive until just last month. Now, word is the studio is rushing to get all the effects done in time for "Lantern's" 3-D release in June and that means they are having to pay overtime to make it happen.  According to Variety, WB will spend an extra $9 million to make sure the animated Green Lantern Corps and their homeworld of OA, among other effects, adequately come to life.

We'll find out if the extra green was worth it when "Green Lantern" opens nationwide on June 17.
